Editorial Guidelines

Standards and submission requirements for contributing technical articles to Link8888.

Who We Publish

Link8888 publishes technical articles from practicing engineers, architects, and SREs working in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and platform engineering. We value production experience over theoretical knowledge. If you have solved a real infrastructure problem and can share the approach with enough detail for others to apply it, we want to hear from you.

Accepted Topics

We accept articles that fall within our core editorial scope:

  • CI/CD Pipeline Architecture — Build systems, deployment automation, artifact management, pipeline security, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD
  • Container Orchestration — Kubernetes operations, Helm, service mesh, container runtimes, pod scheduling, multi-cluster management
  • Infrastructure as Code — Terraform, Pulumi, OpenTofu, Ansible, CloudFormation, state management, drift detection, infrastructure testing
  • Observability and Monitoring — OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, distributed tracing, log aggregation, alerting design
  • Cloud Security and Compliance — IAM, secrets management, network security, policy-as-code, compliance automation, zero-trust architecture
  • Platform Engineering — Internal developer platforms, Backstage, Crossplane, developer experience, self-service infrastructure
  • GitOps and Deployment Strategies — FluxCD, ArgoCD, canary deployments, progressive delivery, feature flags, rollback strategies
  • Site Reliability Engineering — SLOs, error budgets, incident response, capacity planning, chaos engineering, toil reduction

What We Do Not Publish

We do not accept product announcements, marketing content, superficial tool comparisons without hands-on analysis, or articles that primarily serve to promote a specific vendor or product.

Content Standards

Article Length

Articles should be between 2,000 and 2,500 words. Shorter articles rarely provide sufficient depth on infrastructure topics. Longer articles are acceptable if the topic genuinely requires it, but most can be scoped to fit within this range.

Technical Depth

Our readers are experienced engineers. Articles should go beyond introductory explanations and provide actionable technical detail. Include specific configurations, command examples, architecture diagrams, and code snippets where they add value.

Code Examples

All code examples, CLI commands, and configuration files must specify the exact tool versions they were tested against. Include complete, runnable examples rather than pseudocode. If a configuration requires context (such as a specific cloud provider, Kubernetes version, or OS), state that clearly.

Structure Requirements

  • Clear, descriptive title that communicates the article's scope
  • Introductory paragraph explaining the problem being solved
  • Logical section structure with descriptive headings
  • At least one architecture diagram or technical illustration
  • Working code examples with version information
  • Discussion of tradeoffs and limitations
  • Conclusion with actionable takeaways
  • FAQ section with 3 to 5 questions addressing common reader concerns

Submission Process

  1. Pitch your topic. Send a brief proposal (200 to 300 words) to [email protected] describing the article, your angle, and why it matters to infrastructure engineers.
  2. Receive editorial feedback. Our team reviews proposals within 5 business days. We may suggest scope adjustments or a different angle that better serves our audience.
  3. Submit your draft. Once approved, submit your complete article for review. We accept Markdown, Google Docs, or plain HTML.
  4. Technical review. At least one member of our editorial team reviews the article for technical accuracy, clarity, and adherence to our standards.
  5. Revision and publication. We may request revisions based on the technical review. Once finalized, the article is scheduled for publication.

Author Attribution

All published articles include full author attribution with your name, title, and a brief bio. We link to your professional profiles (LinkedIn, GitHub, personal site) as provided. Authors retain the right to republish their work on personal blogs after a 30-day exclusivity period.
